England will certainly have their excuses but it was once again a comfortable victory for the home side in the end. The fate of the game was decided by D\L method but had the game gone the distance ~ result would hardly been different. There are quite a few things for the ICC to look for, as here was every chance for a full game, when you are having lights in the stadium you have to use it ,I don't see any sense in wasting 30-35 minutes at the start when you have the resources to avoid these circumstances, the lights sported a deserted look as the players left the ground much to the dislike of the capacity crowd.

How do you recover from 3 for 29 in 7.3 overs? send in a batsman who scored century in his last Innings!
Yuvraj Singh, yesterday at Indore in 2nd One day International against England, became only the 5th Indian batsman to score back to back century after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid & VVS Laxman.
It was a dusty pitch at Maharani Usharaje Stadium and, "240 would have been defend-able" said India Vice Captain Virendra Sehwag in post match press conference.. India had set a target of 292, thanks to bligrent Yuvraj Singh (118 off 122 balls with 15 4s & 2 6s) & wild strength of Yusuf Pathan who scored 50 off just 29 ... ..

Following Guest Article comes from Aman Raj, 20 year old MIT student in Pune.. View Aman's Orkut Profile.
When Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first he would have thought of another good start from Sehwag and Gambhir .Well, the type of standard they have set,a captain would always expect a good start. But Stuart broad came firing all cylinders, pitched the ball up in the right areas and he triggered a mini collapse. Broad just lacked support from the other end if James Anderson would have been able to do the same, i might have been writing a story of English success.
For a moment or two i just felt ,is it ... ..

How first ever one day international was played? it was a 5 day test match with first four days rained off, so both captains decided to play it as limited overs match.. on 5 January 1971.
England lost it to Australia by 5 wickets.
Limited overs cricket aka one day Internationals instantly caught spectators eyes and today we stand at 2776 ODIs played Internationally as compared to only 1892 tests played world wide.
Somehow, England didn't like ODIs as much. having featured in the first ever, England will only now complete 500 One day Internationals on 17th November 2008, tomorrow, whereas Australia 687 ODIs, India 697 ODIs, New Zealand 551 ODIs, Pakistan 690 ODIs, ... ..

Recently at Rajkot, Yuvraj Singh scored a 64 ball century against England.. This was the second fastest 100 by an Indian behind 62 ball thriller by Mohammad Azharuddin against New Zealand at Baroda in 17 December 1988. Internationally - Yuvraj's hudered stood at 8th position.
Yuvraj was injured, and hence, had Gautam Gambhir as runner (trick?). Otherwise, I'm sure this Punjab Left hander could have scored the first double century in one day Internationals as well.
Emails & question at fourm.itsonlycricket.com poured in, asking for lists of exceptionally quick 100s ever made in one day international cricket.. I've done one better, and included the list fastest century ever made in Test cricket as ... ..

158 = India's victory margin = Biggest loss for England against India and 2nd largest victory margin in India vs England ODI cricket after 202 runs win England registered over India at Lords in 1975.. that was a 60 over match.
22 = number of sixes hit = 5th most in an one day International, ever.
Probably no, Kevin Pietersen's decision to invite India to bat first wasn't such a clever ... ..

Like you sweep your table with a piece of cloth - Batsman facing spinners, sometimes, meet the ball with their bat as sweeping object & paddle it down the corner on leg side to make a run.. this is called Sweep shot.
History suggests Graham Gooch of England first started Sweep shot against India in a World Cup match at Mumbai in 1987. Gooch hit 115 that day..
As cricket evolved, reverse sweep shot came into picture were batters changed their grip and swept the ball to off side where fielders were less. Andy Flower of Zimbabwe really mastered the art of reverse sweep shot but now - Kevin Pietersen of England has come up with ... ..

India vs Australia Oct-Nov 2008, in India - Border-Gawaskar trophy it is called which India now wins back since losing it in 2004. India also moved to second position in ICC test rankings.
India vs Australia Oct-Nov 2008, in India - a series in which, probably for the first time, two legends of Indian cricket retired (Anil Kumble & Sourav Ganguly) collectively.. previously, Indian cricketers were known to be dropped before announcing retirement. As a nice gesture - MS Dhoni allowed former captain Sourav Ganguly to lead the side for few overs once India had taken 9 wickets.. moreover, he also invited Anil Kumble to receive the trophy.
